A message from the producers
of the annual Seniors Jubilee …

"Along with the rest of the world, The Seniors' Jubilee has not been spared the rough and tumble of the current economic downturn. And so, with reluctance, we must announce a postponement of this year's Event.

Not knowing until the New Year whether the planned internal summer repairs at Roy Thomson Hall would be finished in time for our show, we nonetheless spent the fall laying the groundwork developing strategies and initiatives for potential sponsors so we could hit the ground running; the Hall was able to give us the green light in January and we have been working diligently to secure sponsorship. Although several corporations expressed positive interest in the Jubilee, given the economic climate, they were unable to commit their budgets to this year's event.

Looking to 2010, we are filled with much greater optimism knowing the impact we've made these last few months on many who have expressed interest in a possible future partnership with us. Starting now, we plan to develop an infrastructure that would include many more partners and strengthen the Canadian Organization of Senior Artists and Performers (COSAP) with a bold and even more innovative program to serve older adults in performance training and presentation of their talents at RTH as well as on many other stages.

While excited about the potential of our vision for the future, we are also deeply shaken at the prospect of having to take this hiatus after 20 uninterrupted years of Jubilee activity. Over this time, our lives have been deeply enriched working alongside thousands of talented performers who have brought so much joy to our many loyal and supportive audiences from across Ontario.

So, while we will miss all of you this summer, we do plan to come back with a bigger, better and stronger Jubilee in 2010 when we'll meet again! Please check our website, www.cosap.ca for updates on the 2010 Jubilee."
